Little Miracle in the Slum

Little miracles happen, everyday. Today -- we got to see another one!

Without that other imitation leather size 29 black shoe this little muchkin could not go to school tomorrow. So after about 45 min frantically searching in the swamp below, confused as to its simple whereabouts, plus scared that it was getting dark soon and then there would be no way to find it, 5 year-old 'Rain's' young mom, hopped on her rusty little bike and headed up to the market at the beginning of the slum in the factory-laden community.

Our little small group of youth, as we were ending for the day, gathered one last time to pray 'Korean-style,' All at once, to pray for wisdom, to show us where the shoe had gone AND to bring it back so that 'Rain' could go to school on Friday.

That's when it happened. As we got up to leave, Rain's mom was returning with a new pair of "very expensive--240 THB" ($9 is a LOT of money for anyone in this community). I was so proud of her decision to show her daughter how important education was, by spending probably a chunk of their food money for the week -- we saw something floating from under one of the concrete connector bridges.

THERE IT WAS!

Rain and her mom could hardly believe it and neither could most of us! We had been looking for almost an hour and praying for 2 minutes and there it came, that little black, now extremely wet, right shoe!

Prayer changes things.

With the new shoes in hand, Rain became even more overjoyed, and we thanked the Lord. The group assured Rain's mom that the little market shop would take the shoes back...or Rain could have 2 pair! And one from our team gave her a donation to help with the cost.

A little story of the power of prayer and how God is into the details, even shoes!
